Travelling abroad? Then you might want to bring along your favorite movies in your tablet, but oh, your tablet’s storage is probably limited to a paltry 32GB of storage with no expansion options. This is why WD have introduced its new My Passport Wireless hard drive to resolve that storage woes of yours, you can now store all your favorite content in 1TB or 2TB storage options and access them wirelessly with your smartphone or tablet.

It looks terribly bulky – yes, it is, because the hard drive has a built-in 3400mAh battery that will give you 6 hours of wireless usage and 20 hours of standby time. If you want the fixed connection solution, the hard drive does come with a USB 3.0 port that allows super fast file transfers. Users who wants to access the hard drive’s content via their smartphone or tablet will need to download the WD My Cloud app from Google Play or Apple App Store.

The My Passport Wireless hard drive has a built-in SD card slot that lets you transfer pictures from your camera to the hard drive instantly without needing a PC.

Being a wireless device, the WD My Passport Wireless is pretty well equipped with three wireless modes, you can either have a WiFi direct connection, a hotspot feature that allows multiple devices to connect to the device, or have an internet pass through via the hard drive’s wireless connection. These modes will come in really handy if you are intending to share content between your friends, family and co-workers in a closed environment.

WD Malaysia is offering the 1TB and 2TB model of the My Passport Wireless drive, prices will start from RM599 to RM699 and is already available at IT resellers nationwide.
