With The International being just a week away, Valve has rolled out something new that would spectators to enjoy the tournament through a new medium: virtual reality.
In a recent update made to Dota 2’s International Compendium, Valve has officially introduced the Dota VR Hub. Through this hub, spectators will be able to watch both live games and archived matches in VR. Needless to say, you’re going to need a VR headset for this to work, but once you have it, you can jump directly into VR spectator mode via the in game minimap.
From there, you’re able to view the game from various positions. You can opt to look down onto the battlefield like some kind of God, or you can place yourself right in the middle of the action and watch as the heroes from both teams battle all around you. The best part is that this mode supports up to 15 people in one sitting, although this means that you’re going to need 15 friends with VR headsets of their own. In any case, this is a new way to experience The International from the comforts of your home.
