This phone sports the processor that powers the Galaxy S8

Meizu is well known for its abstinence towards Snapdragon processors, with the exception of the latest Meizu M6 Note. The company’s CEO has always been fonder of the more affordable range of chipsets by MediaTek. However. Meizu is taking a different route this time with its latest offering of handsets, known as the Meizu 15 series, one of which sporting a Samsung processor.

Let’s begin with the budget Meizu M15. The phone features a 5.46-inch LCD screen at 1080p resolution. Underneath the hood you’ll realize Meizu’s new found love for Qualcomm with a Snapdragon 626 processor, alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It sports a 12MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a sharp 20MP shooter on the front with f/2.0 aperture. It packs a 3,000mAh battery.

The higher end mid range Meizu 15 opts for a Super AMOLED display of the same size and resolution, powered by an edge more powerful Snapdragon 660 with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. It features an impressive sounding dual rear camera setup of 20MP + 12MP which is capable of 3x optical zoom, plus the same 20MP selfie camera. Battery is also sized the same at 3,000mAh.

The larger Meizu 15 Plus is where the Samsung chipset comes into play. This handset packs a powerful Exynos 8895 processor, the same one seen in the Galaxy S8 of last year, which should breeze through any given task on a smartphone, coupled with 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of onboard storage. Both the rear and front cameras of the Meizu 15 Plus are the same as the regular Meizu 15. The former however, carries a larger 3,500mAh battery.

The Meizu M15, Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus feature respective price tags starting from RM 1,051.60, RM 1,546.76 and RM 1,856.23 equivalents of the Chinese Yuan. The Meizu M15 Plus would seem like a good buy but we have to wait for its availability outside of China which is probably unlikely. Thoughts?
