Shortly after the iPhone 6 is announced, audio accessory maker Philips have announced its Fidelio M2L headphone which will connect to your iPhone via its proprietary Lightning connector instead of the 3.5mm headphone jack, bypassing the iPhone’s internal DAC and is able to support up high resolution 24-bit audio through a built-in DAC and amplifier. The design of this headphone is in accordance with the Made for iPhone program that Apple has expanded to support headphones, the Fidelio M2L is the first headphone to be able to support the iPhone’s digital audio source through the Lightning port.

The Philips Fidelio M2L is expected to launch around December at 250 Euros and we should see more competing brands coming up with such headphones at this point of time, connecting headphones through the Lightning port could enable more features such as a dedicated app on the iPhone to be able to control the sound quality and some other features.
