Chinese manufacturer Meizu continues to make strides on home ground as it launches a new flagship phablet, with a hint of an attempt to fight the competition, taking advantage of the permanent absence of Samsung’s tragic Galaxy Note 7. It features a Samsung made chipset as well so let’s take a look at what the Meizu Pro 6 Plus packs.

First of all, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus sports a Super AMOLED display at 5.7-inches on the front, rocking a QHD resolution. The display supports 3D Touch technology and is protected with Gorilla Glass 4. Underneath the hood, the handset is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8890 processor, the same one seen in one of the two regional variants of the Galaxy S7. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus packs 4GB of RAM and two storage configurations of 64GB and 128GB respectively.

In the camera department, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus features a rear 12MP Sony IMX386 image sensor, equipped with a dual tone 10-LED ring flash, laser autofocus and OIS. The selfie camera on the front is of 5 megapixels. Both shooters have an aperture of f/2.0. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus has a fingerprint sensor on the front, plus an extra seemingly gimmicky rear heart rate sensor, probably slapped onto the handset as an extra feature.

The phone sports a 3,400mAh battery for all its power consumption and has fast charging support. Other specs include a USB Type-C Port, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and 4G VoLTE support. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus begins at 2,999 CNY (RM1,943.90) for the 64GB model and 3,299 (RM2138.35) CNY for the 128GB model. The handset will remain as a China exclusive for the time being.
