The efforts of Chinese smartphone manufacturers vying for the top spot in terms of selfie smartphones have been rather competitive, and it will only grow increasingly intense. Most have been trying to cram as much pixels as they can into their selfie shooters, but Meitu happens to be playing it smart this time, implementing a dual pixel front facing camera. Introducing the Meitu T8, another one of Meitu’s many selfie centric handsets.

In terms of design, Meitu retains what it has on its other smartphones, a hexagonal shape. On the front, you’ll find a 5.2-inch AMOLED display in Full HD resolution. Powering the Meitu T8 is a deca core MediaTek Helio X MT6979 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, with 4GB of RAM and a whopping 128GB of internal storage to fill up that photo gallery. The handset packs a rather huge 3,580mAh battery for its size, and is charged via its USB Type C port.

The highlight comes in its camera department, in which the Meitu T8 features a 21 megapixel rear shooter with an aperture of f/2.2. Moving on to the front is a feature packed selfie camera at 12 megapixels, featuring the same dual pixel technology seen on Samsung’s handset cameras for better low light performance. Not only that, the front camera is also equipped with Optical Image Stabilization and Phase Detection Autofocus technology, plus Meitu’s own noise reduction tech.

The whole selfie enthusiast friendly package doesn’t exactly come cheap, with a price tag of 3,300 yuan (RM2,137.14). The Meitu T8 has already gone on sale in mainland China. Are you selfie crazy enough to get this device?
