Smartphones may have become the replacement of digital audio players, but that doesn’t mean that every smartphone have great audio output, while digital audio players these days lack easily downloadable content, this is why FiiO, the audio company that sells audio amplifiers, have unveiled the FiiO M6 high-res audio player.
The M6 runs on a modified version of Android, as you don’t get access to Google Mobile Services, what it offers in the software experience is access to a handful of preloaded popular streaming services, including Tidal, NetEase Cloud Music, MOOV and KKBOX.
FiiO has also whitelisted apps such as Spotify, Qobuz, Roon, Deezer，QQ Music, Xiami Music, JOOX、ES File Explorer and Ximalaya, which you will have to sideload the respective APK files into the device.
Obviously, the M6 has built-in WiFi to go online and stream music, while it has a 3.2″ touch display, 2GB of internal storage that is expandable via a MicroSD card, powered by a Samsung Exynos 7270 dual-core processor and a 1200mAh battery that offers up to 15 hours of battery life on Bluetooth audio streaming.
Otherwise, the M6 is a rather capable music player as it supports various wireless streaming codecs such as LDAC, HWA, aptX HD and AirPlay, audio performance is driven by a ESS Sabre 9018Q2C DAC and it can also be used as an external DAC when connected to your computer via USB-C.
