Telegram’s new update lets its users undo deleted chats and sort contacts from last seen time

Telegram is similar to WhatsApp in many ways but with its newest version, the app receives a new feature that is yet to be seen on WhatsApp. Telegram version 5.2 has several updates, but the one that stands out is the ability to undo your chat/history deletion.

Telegram users can now recall deleted chats and history if they regret doing so, but this will only last for five seconds. Basically, after you delete a chat, you have five seconds to recall it or it’ll be gone forever.

This feature is rather unique, though its practicality is questionable. This is because it’s almost unlikely that someone can accidentally delete a message, as clicking the delete button will lead to the app asking whether users want to clear history or delete chat.

However, it is possible for one to regret deleting a chat, though five seconds sure is a short time for one to wonder if he or she regrets the decision. Either way, at least the undo feature offers users the option to recall the deletion so they can retrieve the data if they want. This feature is probably for those who wants to remove their conversation with their exes and regret doing so right after they deleted the chat.

Besides that, Telegram now allows its users to sort the list of contacts by their last seen time instead of just alphabetically. This makes it easier for Telegram users to search for active contacts instead of scrolling through their long list of contacts to find that one person.

That aside, Telegram groups will now allow 200,000 members in a single group which is twice the amount of its previous limits. These groups allow users to toggle persistent history, add admins with specific privileges and also introduce a feature called group permissions. Admins will be able to restrict their members from posting specific contents with the new feature, like preventing them from adding new members, sending stickers and gifs or pin messages.

Apart from that, Telegram Desktop also received a new upgrade. With its version 1.5.8, the desktop app now supports automatic files download and the option to choose input and output devices for Telegram Calls.  Users can also choose their preferred emoji set from the Chat Settings, in which there are four options; Mac, Android, Twemoji and EmojiOne.
