Series of photos show what seems like an old unreleased HTC One Watch

Most major smartphone manufacturers have launched their own smartwatches, running mostly on Android Wear, along with a couple of homemade operating systems. While the smartwatches showcase the companies’ take on a wearable, this didn’t seem to be the case for HTC, whom hasn’t launched its own smartwatch till today. However, the Taiwanese manufacturer has been rumored to be working its own smartwatch as early as a year ago. Now a series of images have emerged, showing what seems to be HTC’s wearable.

The images that have surfaced on Chinese micro blogging site Weibo show the alleged HTC One smartwatch, though they seem to be dated in a number of ways. First off, on the circular non flat tire screen of the watch shows a build number based on the dated Android 5.1.1 software. The next image shows a more detailed look on the wearable’s hardware. On the back of the watch is a pogo pin style charging port, a heart rate sensor at the middle, flanked by a HTC logo and an Under Armor logo. This hints a HTC and Under Armor collaboration, which proves that HTC is catering more towards fitness junkies than the average joe. Having said that, the seemingly cracked unremovable silicone band on one of the images shown below further supports the theory. Tracking back to the second image above, we see two physical buttons strategially positioned on the side of the watch.

Apart from the mentioned clues found within the images, it is difficult to tell whether or not HTC is still working on this smartwatch behind the scense at its own pace. If not, those images are probably old leaks or only of an aged protoype that has been abandoned by the company. Don’t get your hopes too high on this one, but do keep those eyes peeled just in case! What do you think?
