After the global unveiling of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung Malaysia wasted no time in announcing the arrival of its flagship phones in Malaysia. The Galaxy S24 series not only boasts improved cameras and performance, but Samsung is differentiating from the rest by introducing various Generative AI features for the first time on its flagship smartphones.
Galaxy S24 Series Hardware Specifications
Comprising the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra, the Galaxy S24 Ultra continues to lead the pack with a new titanium build that makes it lighter than before, its 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen no longer features a curved edge like before and has slimmer bezels, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, battery capacity remains similar as before at 5000mAat supports 45W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
Interestingly, Samsung has decided to equip the Galaxy S24 and S24+ with the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy processor, the Galaxy S24+ receives a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ display that refreshes adaptively at 120Hz, while the Galaxy S24 also receives a larger 6.2-inch FHD+ display that refreshes adaptively at 120Hz.
Both the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be offered with up to 512GB storage variants, RAM capacity is at 8GB for the Galaxy S24 and 12GB for the Galaxy S24+, battery capacities have also been increased for both phones, with the Galaxy S24+ having a 4900mAh battery and the Galaxy S24 having a 4000mAh battery, though only the Galaxy S24+ will support 45W fast charging, the Galaxy S24 makes do with 25W fast charging.
Galaxy S24 Series Camera
Camera wise, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with a quad camera system, comprising an optically stabilized 200MP main camera, two optically stabilized telephoto cameras with one being a 50MP camera that offers 5x optical zoom, the other being a 10MP camera that offers 3x optical zoom, and finally, a 12MP ultrawide camera and 12MP front camera.
What makes it interesting here is that Samsung has decided to do away with the 10x periscope camera that it used to include on the previous Ultras, though it is still capable of going up to 100x space zoom, and with the higher megapixel count, it is still capable of delivering a 10x lossless zoom by cropping into the sensor.
For the first time, users will also be able to shoot 8K 30 fps videos on the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera.
The Galaxy S24 and S24+ employs the same camera system from their respective predecessors, including an optically stabilized 50MP main camera, 10MP telephoto that offers 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. They share the same 12MP front camera as the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Generative AI for the first time on Galaxy S24 series
With the uprise of Generative AI services such as ChatGPT, Samsung is debuting a suite of Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy S24 series, this includes features like Chat Assist, where it is integrated into messaging apps such as WhatsApp that can help translate messages into 13 different languages, create messages based on a summary you entered and even allows you to choose the tonality of the messages to be sent.
The phone app now features Live Translate, which is a two-way, real-time voice and text translation feature that can instantly translate the caller’s language into your preferred language.
Organizations also gets a big boost with Note Assist in Samsung Notes, featuring AI-generated summaries, template creation that streamlines notes with pre-made formats, and cover creation to make notes easy to spot with a brief preview. For voice recordings, even when there are multiple speakers, Transcript Assist uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize and even translate recordings.
