Today, Samsung Malaysia launched their slimmest and lightest interchangeable-lens camera to-date, the NX mini SMARTCamera, which is the company’s answer to the Panasonic GM1 camera.
The camera weighs 158g (body only) and has a thickness of 22.5mm, It also features a solid premium metal body with a luxurious leatherette finish like the NX300.
In terms of hardware specifications, we find a 20.5MP BSI CMOS Sensor, a 3-inch HVGA flip-up touch enabled display that rotates 180-degrees, NFC and WiFi featuring Samsung’s Tag & Go easy sharing feature. The NX Mini will be also cloud service enabled, users will be able to upload their pictures up to Dropbox and Flickr; Dropbox is also throwing a free 2GB of storage for new users. The camera is also able to achieve a fast 6 FPS continuous shoot and 1/16000 sec Shutter Speed.
Two specialised lenses for the NX Mini are also available for purchase, which is the NX-M 9mm F3.5 ED lens and NX-M 9-27mm F3.5-5.6 ED OIS lens. The fixed 9mm wide angle lens makes it perfect to capture group selfies and landscape pictures while having an ultra-slim design where as the latter is a zoom lens with optical image stabilisation. If you already have an existing NX lense, you are able to use them by purchasing the optional NX-M Mount adapter (ED-MA4NXM).
The Samsung NX Mini will bundle the 9-27mm zoom kit lens in the package and retails at RM1399, the fixed ultra wide 9mm lens will be available for purchase at RM929 on 1 June 2014 onwards. Read on for detailed specifications.
