The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are undoubtfully one of the best looking phones of 2017 and attracted the attention of a lot of people thanks to its near bezeless design. However, the Samsung DeX feature was left out in the dark and was never utilized by owners of the phone possibly due to the high price point it came at. But Samsung is pretty persistent that users use the DeX feature only with their own dock rather than a third-party dock.

According to XDA Developers, users are reporting that when they connect their phones to third-party docks, the DeX feature no longer comes up instead, the docks now mirrors the phone’s display. The problem with the third-party docks only appears when users are on the fourth Android Oreo beta. Huawei also has a feature that is similar to DeX on their Mate 10 phones but they do not require a dock, rather just connecting a USB Type-C cable from your phone to a screen to enable the feature.

Let’s hope that this is something Samsung is working on if this restriction were to be implemented in the final version of Oreo, it safe to assume that a lot of users will not be happy with this move.
