The Galaxy Note 7 was a serious contender for the best smartphone of the year award when it was unveiled back in 2016. The phablet possibly passed all smartphone requirements with flying colors, except for one – battery safety. Given its battery fire crisis last year, the Galaxy Note 7 has been slated to make a comeback for a while now, and it looks like the phablet will be launched again at a significantly cheaper price.
According to South Korean news outlet ET News, the Galaxy Note 7 will be returning to its home country in June in refurbished forms just as rumored. The phone was originally priced at 988,900 won (RM3,829.08), but is expected to be shaved to a rough price of 700,000 won (RM2,710.44) when it makes its re-appearance. It will also be renamed as the Galaxy Note 7R when it launches.
The Galaxy Note 7R will likely sport a smaller and safer (hopefully) battery this time round from 3,500mAh down to 3,200mAh. The report states that it would be ideal for Samsung to relaunch the phablet in June before the Galaxy Note 8 launches in late August or early September. According to a recent survey, the demand for a refurbished Galaxy Note 7 was extremely high, with a whopping 96 percent of respondents intend of purchasing one for themselves.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 7R won’t be heading to US markets, but the phone will likely launch in countries such as Vietnam, on top of South Korea. Will you get the Galaxy Note 7R if it’s being sold here?
