Realme 5 64MP Quad Camera

Last week, Realme announced that it will showcase the world’s first 64MP quad camera technology at an innovation event in New Delhi, India on August 8. Ahead of the event, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has hinted that the upcoming smartphone with a 64MP quad-camera setup will be launched as the Realme 5 and not Realme 4 as some have been speculating. Sheth has changed his Twitter name to Madhav ‘5’ Quad.

Most Chinese brands have skipped the number four and jumped straight to five for their products, mainly because it is considered to be unlucky in their culture. Even though Realme hasn’t announced any release date for the smartphone yet, leakster Ice Universe has claimed it is likely to be unveiled before the end of this month.

The Realme 5 will utilize Samsung’s 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which was announced by the company earlier this year. Rival Chinese smartphone brand Redmi is also planning to launch a smartphone with a 64MP sensor soon, and is set to showcase the camera technology in China later today.

Samsung, on the other hand, is rumored to launch a new A series smartphone with a 64MP camera between September and October this year. We wouldn’t be surprised if several other brands also introduce their first phones with a 64MP camera by the end of 2019.
