Apple devices certainly have not gotten any cheaper lately. With Malaysia still struggling to recover from currency exchange woes last year, prices of Apple devices have been gradually increasing as the US Dollar strengthened and the Malaysian Ringgit weakened further, to a record low of roughly RM4.50 to $1. But yet, many consumers are still willing to fork out a huge sum of cash to get their hands on a device of the prestigious tech brand.
In other news, some light is being shed on the land of the rising sun as iPhones prices in Japan have been cut up to 10%. However, no specific reason has been given by Apple for the recent price cut. The slash applies to all iPhone models that are currently sold officially in the country. The price of the 128GB iPhone 6s Plus has been reduced by 7.3% from ¥122,800 (RM4,290.86) to ¥113,800 (RM3,976.38) and the recently released iPhone SE had its prices slashed too, with the 16GB model being reduced by 9.5% from ¥52,800 (RM1,844.93) to ¥47800 (RM1,670.22).
For those who have purchased any of the iPhones being officially circulated in Japan in the last two weeks, with the exception of the iPhone SE, can apply for a refund of the difference in the price. Since the Malaysian Ringgit has recovered a fair bit, do you think the prices of Apple devices here should be getting a reduction too? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
