The OPPO Reno5 series has officially been unveiled in its native China and the offerings look quite interesting.
The Reno5 comes in flagship and mid-range models, which is reminiscent of the first Reno series. The Reno5 Pro comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 1000, which in its own right is a capable flagship chipset; meanwhile, the regular Reno5 will sport a decent Snapdragon 765G chipset as well. Both phones, of course, support 5G connectivity.
The Pro model comes with a 6.55-inch display that pushes a 90Hz refresh rate at 1080p resolution. The phone packs up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
The regular Reno5 has a smaller 6.43-inch display, but still offers the same 90Hz refresh rate FHD+ panel. This variant comes with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage too.
Also similar between both phones are the camera specs – 64MP main+8MP ultrawide+2MP+2MP. For selfies, you get a bog-standard 32MP lens.
On top of that, both phones also come with a 4,300mAh battery along with support for 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging. The phones also support reverse charging, and is compatible with PD and QuickCharge chargers.
When it comes to the design, both devices don’t look all that interesting, that’s why we’re only talking about it now. What’s worth noting is that the back panels are glass and are fingerprint resistant. There are also supposedly pyramid shapes etched into the panel that are visible when shone onto with light.
The OPPO Reno5 5G is priced from CNY2,700 (about RM1,674), while the Reno5 Pro 5G is priced from CNY3,400 (about RM2,108). There should be another variant coming soon – the Reno5 Pro+ is touted to sport a Snapdragon 865 chipset, and we’re definitely looking forward to that one as well.
