OnePlus has begun rolling out the Community Build of OxygenOS 3.0 for the OnePlus 2, after a few weeks of soak testing. OxygenOS 3.0 is based on Android Marshmallow. The OnePlus X on the other hand has received OxygenOS 2.2.1 as a security update, still stuck on Android Lollipop.
OnePlus has always been known to delay OS updates since its CyanogenMod days back in 2014, and it seems like Marshmallow will be stalled for the time being for the OnePlus X. The 2.2.1 update includes a security patch update, which is unspecified, alongside some other bug fixes as stated below:
- Fix for data leak while roaming experienced in some regions
- Fix for microphone being muted when using Google Hangouts
- Fix for app drawer not launching when google search bar is hidden
- GMS 3.0 upgrade
- APN update to support Tigo carrier
- Security patch update
- General bug fixes and optimizations
As usual, the update will be available via OTA and will soon roll out to all OnePlus X devices running OxygenOS so you should be receiving an update real soon. Meanwhile in other news, the first “Flagship Killer”, the OnePlus One, seems to be left in the dark by the company with the last OxygenOS update (2.1.4) dating back to January. CyanogenMod on the other hand has been keeping quiet about an official Marshmallow based Cyanogen OS 13 build for the 2014 flagship by OnePlus. What are your thoughts?
