According to reports, an international variant of the OnePlus 9 Pro was spotted running on OPPO’s upcoming ColorOS 12 system – this comes after the company confirmed that both brands are working on a unified OS that will be used by future OnePlus and OPPO products.
This is a big deal considering the reports suggesting that the new OS would be a mix of both OxygenOS and ColorOS – but based on the leak (which is now deleted), it seems like the former has drawn the short straw and will make vacate its place for the latter to occupy.
We also noted in our report of Pete Lau (OnePlus CEO) confirming the retention of OnePlus OxygenOS in global variants of OnePlus smartphones, at least until the new unified OS rolls out internationally.
This isn’t the first time this has happened – leaks posted in OnePlus’ user forums show the the same phone running on ColorOS 11 back in March this year. So, if you’re a fan of OxygenOS, it could be likely that you’ll be without the operating system very soon.
