It seems that the wait for the Oculus Rift is almost over as the company announced today that they will be shipping out “early builds of the final Rift hardware” to developers.

This final build of the Rift will include the Rift SDK 1.0 and runtimes which “include features tied to the consumer product”. According to a post made by the Oculus team, Rifts willl be shipping out to developers in phases as the company will be delivering the hardware to developers every week.

Developers who wish to develop for the VR headset can still apply to receive a developer kit by uploading a preview of their apps through the Oculus Submission Tool.

With the way things are shaping up, it seems that the Rift will be available for purchase within the company’s estimated release date which is sometime in Q1 2016. No specific price has been given to the Rift as of yet, but the company has confirmed that the Rift will be priced above USD 350.
