So here it is, Nvidia has finally unveiled the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. However, unlike the previous Ti cards that places it between the regular high end card and the Titan X, the GTX 1080 Ti is a first in the sense that the card sits above the Titan X in terms of performance.

With the GTX 1080 Ti, the card uses the GP102 GPU that can be found in the Titan X. The card will have a base clock speed of 1,480MHz and a boost clock speed of 1582MHz. The biggest difference between the GTX 1080 Ti and the Titan X lies in its memory. With the 1080 Ti, Nvidia has opted to give the card 11GB of GDDR5X memory, resulting in a 352-bit memory interface and 88 ROPs. For comparison, the Titan X comes with 12GB of GDDR5X memory, a 384-bit interface, and 96 ROPs. The reason that the 1080 Ti is capable of beating the Titan X comes from the fact that the card’s memory runs at 11GHz instead of the Titan X’s 10GHz. This gives the card a slightly highmemory bandwidth of 484GB/s.

Rounding up the details, the 1080 Ti will have a TDP of 250W and will be powered by a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe connector. The Founders Edition version of the 1080 Ti will also come with an improved vapour chamber cooler that Nvidia claims is quieter. If you’re looking to get the 1080 Ti, the card will retail for USD699, beginning from next week (RM3,114).

If the price of the 1080 Ti is too steep for your tastes, Nvidia has also announced that the GTX 1080 will be receiving an immediate price cut as well. Starting from today, the GTX 1080 will retail for USD499 (RM2,223).
