Pokemon GO is no doubt a really successful and fun mobile game. The game implements the AR concept, with Pokemon appearing in real world. Not only that, it makes players walk distances, indirectly contributing to fitness. But like any other gaming title, Pokemon GO has its fair share of cheaters, who all aim to conquer gyms and above all, live up to the “Gottta Catch ‘Em All” motto. Niantic, the folks behind Pokemon GO is planning to up the ante on dealing with cheaters.
Niantic previously introduced shadow banning cheaters, which allows them to only catch lousy Pokemon. But now, Niantic is adding a new anti-cheating measure, which will mark Pokemon caught using third party services with a slash:
With the announcement of Raid Battles and the new battle features, we are staying true on our commitment to ensuring that Pokémon GO continues to be a fun and fair experience for all Trainers. Starting today, Pokémon caught using third-party services that circumvent normal gameplay will appear marked with a slash in the inventory and may not behave as expected. We are humbled by the excitement for all the new features we announced yesterday. This is one small part of our continued commitment to maintaining the integrity of our community and delivering an amazing Pokémon GO experience.
