It is the advent of foldable phones – not so much like the flip phones we used to have a decade ago – or so we thought.

With the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, Motorola wants to join in on the action, but with a slight twist in the iteration. The Motorola RAZR is their foldable entry into the fray and as you can tell from the name, it takes inspiration from the old V3 RAZR that came out in 2004.

We’ve written about the new RAZR phone before, but we’re doing it again because reliable leakster Evan Blass have shared a suite of convincing-looking images of the supposed foldable phone, meaning we could possibly be seeing how it’ll actually look like once it is revealed.

So here’s what we’re looking at – when the cover is open we see a tall 6.2-inch AMOLED flexible display that pushes 1440p resolution. When the cover is closed, there’s an external display is a low-resolution panel which may have a limited array of functionalities.

The phone also has a sizeable chin – seriously, it’s thick. The images show a button located smack dab in the middle of said chin – but we’re not sure if it’s a physical button or just a fingerprint scanner.

The phone will come with a single main camera that’s touted to be a 12MP shooter, while an 8MP selfie camera is available too. So it seems photography won’t be a strong point for the new Motorola RAZR.

When the cover is shut, the phone takes on a square form factor and appears to be rather thick, but when open, the phone looks to be quite thin. Also in order to achieve this thin frame, it appears that battery capacity will be sacrificed as a purported 2,730mAh battery is likely to power the phone.

Under the hood, it’s likely that we’ll find a Snapdragon 710 chipset along with 4GB or 6GB of RAM as well as up to 128GB internal storage. Sources say that the phone could cost somewhere in the ball park of $1,500 (RM6,263); meaning it’s cheaper than its foldable counterpart, the Galaxy Fold – but with then again the RAZR is equipped with mid-tier hardware whereas the Galaxy Fold is a full-fledged flagship.

According to The Verge, the phone is expected to be announced this November 13, so stick with us as we bring you more updates when the phone arrives.
