Just yesterday, Meizu has brought the Meizu Pro 6 Plus and the M5 Note to Malaysian shores, citing the smartphone brand’s revival in the local market. Yesterday also saw Xiaomi announcing the launch event date for its upcoming Mi 6 flagship for April 19. It looks like Meizu has just the answer to its fellow smartphone maker’s upcoming handset.

Meizu isn’t the most popular smartphone brand in its home country when compared to the more superior Xiaomi. However, the former brand has always launched handsets which seem to go up against Xiaomi’s lineup of smartphones, and it seems that it won’t be any different this time round. According to GizmoChina, Meizu Vice President Li Nan has hinted at a smartphone launch later this month, and it is likely to be of the Meizu Pro 7. For reference, the Meizu Pro 6 was launched this month last year.

Rumors suggest that the Meizu Pro 7 will feature an impressive 4K resolution display measuring at 5.7-inches, along with an Always On Display technology. Meizu’s anti-Qualcomm history suggests that the Pro 7 will be sporting a MediaTek Helio X30 processor. Camera is tipped to be a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor.

There isn’t a set date for the launch of the mysterious Meizu handset as teased by Li Nan, but it will likely launch shortly after Xiaomi unveils the Mi 6 series one week from now. Which phone do you think will come out on top?
