Despite the Meizu M5 having launched only back in November, Meizu has announced its successor barely 3 months after, set for a launch on the 20th of February. The Chinese manufacturer has announced details regarding the Meizu M5s before its official launch 4 days away since Meizu isn’t good at keeping secret anyway.
The affordable Meizu M5s handset features tiny upgrades from the Meizu M5, with a surprising battery reduction. But first, the phone sports a 5.2-inch display on the front with 720p resolution. Powering the device underneath the hood is a MediaTek MT6573 processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz alongside 3GB of RAM, making it the only memory configuration available unlike the Meizu M5’s 2GB model. However, the M5s has two storage variants at 16GB and 32GB.
Camera wise, the Meizu M5s features a typical 13MP/5MP pair of rear and front shooters respectively. The budget handset has a fingerprint reader embedded into the home button on the front panel. The surprising downgrade is in the phone’s battery, although just a little. The Meizu M5s packs a 3,000mAh battery, slightly lesser than the 3,070mAh battery of its predecessor.
Meizu has priced the M5s at CNY 799 (RM517.60) for the 16GB model and CNY 999 (RM647.17) for the 32GB model. The budget device will see an official launch on February 20.
