We have two exciting gaming smartphones heading our way this year – the ASUS ROG Phone 3 and the Lenovo Legion gaming phone; the latter seems to be the less talked about device as of now, but it appears we may now know a little more about Lenovo’s first gaming smartphone.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the phone will come with a 144Hz panel with a 270Hz touch sample rate – this comes after a leaked video appeared online supposedly showcasing what the Lenovo Legion phone is capable of. Although not a lot of games support high refresh rates, it’s still a neat feature and will make every day scrolling much snappier.

What also contributes to a snappy experience is a well-optimized OS – and according to another leak, the Legion phone will have its own custom Legion OS that’s based off Lenovo’s ZUI 12 system.

It doesn’t look as edgy as ASUS’ and Black Shark’s custom gaming OSs, which could be a good thing for those who prefer a more streamlined look.

Under the hood, you can expect to find a Snapdragon 865 chipset, while there will also be a higher end model of the phone that comes with the more powerful 865 Plus; but in the aforementioned leak, at least one of the Lenovo Legion variants will come with only 6GB LPDDR5 RAM – perhaps there could be more high-spec versions that support up to 16GB of memory. For storage, you also get 128GB of space, although we suspect you’ll get up to 512GB with the higher end models.

Powering the phone is a decently-sized 5,000mAh battery, however the ROG Phone 3 is said to come with a whopping 6,000mAH pack. This gives a small glimpse into where the Lenovo Legion phone sits in the gaming smartphone scale.

But where the Lenovo beats the ROG in the charging department with support of up to 90W of fast charging, while the ROG Phone 3 is said to only come with 30W of fast charging.

The ROG Phone 3 will be launching this July 22 so we can expect the Lenovo to arrive a little later than that – it’s safe to say we’re super excited for the unveiling of both phones, and we’ll surely keep you updated on the latest happenings.
