Jide will restructure Remix OS, quits consumer space

Jide Technology, the company behind Remix OS and its devices, is calling it quits, but only on the consumer space. The company claims to be transitioning away from the consumer space, discontinuing all its current products.

Jide Technology was birthed in 2014, striving to turn Android into a desktop like experience. The company first launched the first known Android PC, known as the Remix Mini. Remix OS was also made available for PC users to experience Android on their desktops. Remix IO and IO+ raised nearly $600,000 on crowd funding website Kickstarter, but will unfortunately have its current development discontinued.

Jide however has stated that all backers for the Remix IO and Remix IO+ Kickstarter campaign will be fully refunded. The same goes for unfulfilled purchases made through Jide’s online store. It is rather unfortunate that Jide will discontinue all its products, especially the Remix IO series as it is an all-in-one device – Android PC, gaming console and an Android set up box.

Jide will instead transfer its current resources and efforts to the enterprise space where the company could prove useful to bigger organizations and revolutionize how business enterprises operate. This doesn’t come as good news to us consumers, but as of now you will still be able to download Remix OS for PC if you want to find out how Android works in a desktop concept.
