For the first time, Apple has included wireless charging into their new generation of iPhones, and because they are using Qi standards rather than their own proprietary technology, it makes it compatible with any wireless charger that supports the standard. However, it is limited to 5W which is the slowest wireless charging speed.

The good news is Apple is working on iOS 11.2 update which will bump up the wireless charging support to 7.5W as mentioned by MacRumors. Currently, if you are using an iPhone 8 or X, you will realize that wireless charging is the same speed as using the charger that comes with the device. With the new update, it will give you a 43 percent faster-charging speed according to MacRumors who tested the beta version of iOS 11.2. You can already buy Qi wireless chargers that will support 7.5W from Apple or even third-party sellers and some of them are even offering 10W and 15W chargers already.

For those of you that prefer the wired method and own one of the latest iPads, you can use the charger that comes with it to charge your iPhone much faster than the charger that comes with the phone.
