A recent tweet by user @MajinBuOfficial has revealed the upcoming iPad mini 6 and several of its specs. According to the images he shared, users will finally be able to attach the Apple Pencil magnetically to the side of the iPad.
Many leaks have pointed towards a redesigned iPad mini 6; it’s supposed to resemble the newer iPad Air and iPad Pro that have flat edges and no home button. Like the former, the iPad mini will still come with Touch ID on the power button.
Why the relocated buttons?
Clearly, the iPad mini is smaller compared to other iPad models. If Apple were to include magnetic charging for the Apple Pencil on the side of the iPad mini, it would be hindered by the side buttons. Previous rumours suggested that there will be a smaller Apple Pencil just for the iPad mini 6, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. The tweet by Majin Bu instead proposes that the iPad mini will work with Apple Pencil 2 which seems more plausible, and will launch in November. This means that we’ll probably see the iPad mini during the October Apple event — not the one that is happening tonight.
iPad mini 6 will start at RM1,699
The iPad mini 6 is expected to be powered by the A14 Bionic chip and sport an 8.6-inch display. It will be available in Space Gray, Silver, Rose Gold, Green and Sky Blue. You can get it in Wi-Fi only variants (64GB and 256GB) or Wi-Fi + Cellular variants with the same storage configurations that are mentioned. It’s expected to start at $399 which is RM1,699 when we convert it to our local currency.
