If there was any doubt that AI is the future, have a look at what Apple has supposedly done. One of the upcoming iOS 13’s rumoured features is called FaceTime Attention Correction.

It essentially makes it appear like you’re looking at your call partner straight in the eye when you’r engaged in a video call. People tend to look at the other person’s face during a video call, because staring right at the webcam would be painfully boring. But this comes at the cost of no one party making eye contact.

So Attention Correction uses “advanced image manipulation” to make it look like your eyes are glued to the webcam effectively establishing digital eye contact. Folks have tested it out and it seems to work like a charm; however it seems like it’s currently only available on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max; but we’re sure once it’s fool-proof, we’ll see the feature roll out to all iOS devices.

For those who rely on FaceTime to communicate with loved ones, this could make video calls that much more profound.
