Instagram is low-key testing out a new feature called “Creator Account”, which is made for high-profile Instagram users who are also referred to as creators.

The new feature is similar to business profiles but it offers more in-depth analytics and also allows creators to filter their direct messages. Creators can choose to filter their messages by read, unread and flagged, which is similar to the emails system. Besides that, they can rank their pending requests of direct messages either by relevance or time. Besides that, creators will be given more flexible contact methods, meaning that they can choose whether to let others contact them by call or email. If they’re not keen on being contacted through phone calls or emails, they’re given the option to remove the button that allows others to click to call/email them.

In addition to that, data regarding creator’s followers and following will also be able to be accessed. Creators will be able to view weekly and daily data on their follower count, so they can discover the kind of content that their followers like or dislike.

For now, the new feature is only tested out with a limited amount of high-profile users but Instagram says that it will be available next year to the wider community. The Instagram product manager, Ashley Yuki also highlights that creators are “an important part of our community,” so they want to ensure that creators can actually built their own fan communities and personal brands. This new feature will definitely be advantageous to creators as they can get more information on their content engagement and plan their content posting more accurately. Furthermore, it will be Instagram an even better platform for its users to grow on.
