IFA 2017: Sony’s Google Assistant smart speaker is splashproof

Sony has announced a slew of products over at IFA 2017, and probably the most interesting product from the company is the LF-S50G smart speaker (can’t they have a better name?) that supports Google Assistant, it somehow resembles a little like Apple’s Homepod speaker, and is better than the Google Home in some aspects.

The Sony LF-S50G aims to deliver better sound with things such as a two-way facing speaker, two-stage diffuser and a bass reflex duct, you can speak to it by saying the usual ‘OK Google’ command using its far-field microphone or through supported BRAVIA TV remotes, there’s a LED display on the front showing the time and speaker volume, and you can easily change the volume by just waving gestures. Best of all, the LF-S50G can serve as a Bluetooth speaker for your devices with NFC One-Touch pairing, and you can be less worried of it getting water damage as the speaker is IPX3-rated splashproof, don’t go swimming with it though.

Sony is offering the LF-S50G in color options of Blue, White and Black, though we are not sure if the company would be selling the cover as optional accessories to the speaker, the LF-S50G will cost US$200 (RM854) when it hits shelves, and let’s hope Sony Malaysia decides to bring this in.
