IFA 2017: Wiko shows off its first 18:9 display smartphone

Wiko has a great smartphone to show at IFA 2017, the Wiko View is the company’s first smartphone with a 18:9 aspect ratio display, it is also the largest display that the French phone maker has ever installed on its smartphones. Rather than targeting the high end smartphone market, the Wiko View sports entry-level hardware, including a Snapdragon 425 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage capacity, a 5.7-inch 1440×720 HD+ display, a 13-megapixel main and 16-megapixel front camera with a selfie flash, and a 2900mAh battery.

The Wiko View will run Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box, and should receive an update to Android Oreo at a later date. The View seems to take on the design cues of the U Pulse, which has an all metal design and has the same hardware placement for the fingerprint scanner, we can also assume the same removable backcover design, which allows you to swap between colors of Black, Gold, Deep Bleen and Cherry Red.

Although the Wiko View feels just like another bezel-less smartphone, we are definitely glad that the company has decided to use a Snapdragon processor, a refreshing change from the usual Mediatek Cortex-A7 chip, the phone’s entry-level hardware also lead us to assume that this is going to be an affordable smartphone for the masses, let’s hope Wiko Malaysia brings in the device this fall.
