Many smartphones that were recently launched are targeted towards the everyday user. However, the HP Elite x3 isn’t such a device, as it is a smartphone that is built for business.

A business-centric smartphone requires high-end specifications, and the HP Elite x3 doesn’t disappoint in that department. For starters, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of of expandable storage, a 4,150mAh battery, a 16MP rear camera and a 8MP front camera. Another interesting thing to note is that the Elite X3 comes with Pogo pins, giving the smartphone modular capabilities should HP wishes to roll them out to the general market.

For software, HP has opted to install Windows 10 Mobile onto the Elite x3. This gives the device access to some of Windows 10’s best features like Windows Hello logon and Continuum. Most importantly, Windows 10 Mobile brings with it an additional layer of software security, allowing you to work on your projects in peace.

The presence of Continuum means that the Elite x3 can be operated as a desktop version of Windows 10 as well. This can be done via a whole set of peripherals that will complement the Elite x3. For starters, there’s the Desk Dock, a charging dock with ports that allow you to operate the device like a typical desktop. There’s also the Lap Dock, a Surface-like peripheral which allows you to leverage Continuum by connecting the Elite x3 either through a wire or wirelessly. Other peripherals also exist, such as phone cases and a wireless charging station.

As mentioned earlier, the HP Elite x3 is first and foremost a business-centric device, and as such, it carries a rather huge pricetag. The HP Elite x3 will come with a starting price of RM3,599, which includes the Desk Dock bundled in. As the image above shows, various other bundles for the Elite x3 exists as well, but all of them aren’t what we would consider affordable.
