This is probably the reason why you shouldn’t name your product Karma. Although action cam expert company GoPro didn’t do any wrong in the past, or its past life for that matter, it appears that its newly launched Karma drone has been causing some issues, leading to a recall. The GoPro Karma, impressive in its own stride, is what GoPro diehards have been waiting for after so long, but this recall comes as unfortunate news.

According to a press release by the American company, it has discovered that “in a very small number of cases”, the GoPro Karma units happen to lose power in the midst of operation. This means that while flying and operating your Karma drone, its battery could just die off in mid air flight, resulting in several possibilities of danger. In a worst case scenario, the Karma drone might end up crash landing on someone’s head, causing injuries. Thankfully, according to GoPro, no injuries and property damage have been reported thus far.

The recall and refund involves approximately 2,500 units of Karma drone units that were purchased since October 23 last month. Karma drone users can return their units directly to GoPro or to the place of purchase and obtain a full refund. GoPro has stated that there won’t be replacement units for the time being, and that the company will only resume Karma shipments after the issue is resolved. GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman has assured consumers that the issue is currently being investigated and has apologized for inconvenience.

The recall page for the GoPro Karma can be accessed at here, where full details and instructions regarding the recall and refund are available.
