Google Maps is pretty much almost everyone’s must have navigation app, the company has been adding new features every now and then (shame on you Apple Maps!) and it is now adding a few more features in the current beta, one of it is a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode that shows your navigation at a small corner of the screen when you are using the app minimized, a very useful feature especially for walking navigation if you want to perform stuffs such as texting your friend that you are on your way, without the need to miss out on important navigation prompts.

The Maps version in question is v9.59, which can be updated if you are currently a beta tester and have a device running on Android O, you’ll also be getting monthly driving stats such as average speed time saved, time in traffic, number of trips and total time of driving, though not useful but its still interesting to know how much you have been driving for that month alone. Do note that the PiP mode is still in its early testing stages and you should expect some glitches along the way, you can sign up as a beta tester over at Google Play on the Google Maps app page.
