If you’re a proud owner of the Galaxy S10 5G, here’s a PSA — don’t download the latest update yet.

It’s an issue that only occurs with the Galaxy S10 5G

Unlike the Galaxy S10 that only had a 10MP selfie lens, the 5G model has an extra TOF lens that’s supposed to help in face authentication. However, some users have reported failure in face recognition after updating their S10 5Gs to the latest update. It didn’t matter whether you’re in a bright or dark lighting, the phone simply won’t unlock via face recognition.

Samsung doesn’t have a solution yet

If you’ve downloaded the July 2021 update by Samsung on your Galaxy S10 5G, then your only options now are to key in your passcode or depend on your fingerprint for authentication.

This issue has been acknowledged by Samsung’s forum moderator a few days ago, but the company has yet to come up with a solution. Our advice is to wait for Samsung to announce the bug fix before you proceed with getting the latest update.
