Futuremark is known for their 3DMark and PCMark benchmarks that would allow you to gauge how good your PC will be. Today, they’re introducing yet another benchmarking tools, this one being tailored specifically towards virtual reality purposes.
Appropriately called VRMark, the tool will help you stress test your PC in an attempt to see if your build is powerful enough to meet the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive’s requirements. Much like its other benchmarking tools, VRMark will put the PC through a series of tests, all of which designed to test various parts of the PC. As a VR headset isn’t required to run VRMark, you can use the tool to benchmark your PC before actually going out and buy a VR headset of your own.
VRMark will be available in three versions. The first is the ‘Basic Edition’ which comes with the Orange Room test which tests your computer against the recommended specs of the Rift and Vive headsets. A step above that is the ‘Advanced Edition’, a RM38 version that comes with the Blue Room test for computers that meet the recommended specifications of the Rift and Vive. Finally, there’s the ‘Professional Edition’ that is meant for business and commercial use. VRMark Basic can be acquired from Futuremark’s own website, while VRMark Advanced can be acquired from either Futuremark or Steam.
