Kingmax have announced two very peculiar devices in COMPUTEX this year, they are mobile health devices that enables users to check on air quality and alcohol levels, while I was a little skpetical on what audiences does Kingmax intends to have these two products reach out, the marketing specialist at Kingmax has revealed that these are perfect devices for individuals who have sensitive health conditions, instead of buying those professional looking and expensive devices to perform such tests, the Alcohol Check and AirQ Check are very portable health check devices that you can easily store in your wallet or bag.

Both of these two devices have MicroUSB connectors and will only work with Android smartphones that has USB OTG support. The Alcohol Check will enable users to check their alochol levels should they need to know if it is safe to drive after a drink, the device has a built-in sensor that is able to detect the user’s breathe and shows the actual alochol level in the body, if it exceeds the unsafe level, the app will even allow you to configure a preferred phone number to call your important contacts to have you dragged from the bar, while this could be useful for some I still wonder if drunkards will ever remember to check their alcohol levels.

The AirQ Check is a more practical device though, targeted at individuals that are sensitive to air quality, this device will detect any harmful gases and CO2 levels on surroudings and tells you if you would require to have air filters installed to improve the room’s air quality, it works similarly to the Alcohol Check device and there’s an app for it to perform the required air analysis, an LED indicator is also available to tell users on the air quality.

Kingmax has plans to bring these two devices to the Malaysian market by the end of June and retail prices for these two devices are expected to be US$50 (RM207) before taxes, do keep a close look out on your nearest IT retailers or we might probably see it popping up in pharmacy shelves or clinics, fingers crossed then.
