While VR isn’t getting as much traction as AR, Oculus has revealed more details on its standalone Go headset, as most VR headsets will require you to slot a phone inside to be able to view VR content, the Oculus Go already has a 2560×1440 display built right in, and its processing power is done by a Snapdragon 821 processor, its not the most powerful chip as of today but sufficient for most available VR applications today. Most importantly, Oculus head Hugo Barra has also revealed in CES 2018 that the Oculus Go is manufactured by none other than his previous employer, Xiaomi.

The news that Xiaomi gets involved in the manufacturing of the headset isn’t a huge surprise, as Oculus works closely with manufacturers in making mobile VR headsets such as the Samsung Gear VR, Barra has also probably been working on such a product before his departure last year and has also remained at Xiaomi as an advisor. The Oculus Go will also be available in China as a Mi product known as the Mi VR Standalone, which the latter will obviously have content tailored for the Chinese market. The Oculus Go is slated for a release early this year for $199.
