Livestreaming your games is a rather finnicky process that involves downloading broadcast software, acquiring an account on a streaming site, and setting up everything so that your stream doesn’t crash within five minutes. If you’re a gamer that focuses mainly on Blizzard games though, there may be an alternative in the horizon as Blizzard and Facebook has partnered up to make streaming games easier.
In an announcement made earlier today, Blizzard has revealed that the company has been working with Facebook to implement Facebook’s Live API into its catalogue of games. The list of games includes Overwatch, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3, and StarCraft 2. According to Blizzard, the company is currently working on adding ‘Go Live’ streaming to their games, allowing players to stream their gameplay live to their Facebook timeline with a simple push of a button.
Blizzard’s partnership with Facebook isn’t just limited to livestreaming of course. Blizzard and Facebook are currently working out a way that would allow gamers to login to Blizzard’s games without needing to sign up for a Battle.net account. Basically, Blizzard wants to implement a ‘Sign in via Facebook’ feature that many websites have into its games.
No fixed timeline was given as to when Blizzard will finish integrating Facebook’s Live API into its games, but Blizzard did mention that Facebook sign-ins will be ready by the end of the month.
