After months of rumours and speculation, it is finally official: EA will be bringing the Battlefield series to World War I in Battlefield 1.
While many have been wondering if Battlefield 1 will be set in an alternate World War I, DICE has confirmed that the game will be set in World War I proper with period accurate weaponry, army and vehicles. Indeed, the trailer shows that some of the vehicles that will be available in the game includes the British Mark V tank and biplanes. Horseback calvary will also be in the game thanks to the presence of the Ottoman Empire. Other notable inclusions in the trailer include artillery, zeppelins, and what appears to be mustard gas.
DICE has confirmed that there will be a single player campaign alongside the multiplayer meat, but seeing how the campaigns were like for Battlefields 3 and 4, we don’t expect much from it. Battlefield 1 will have a launch date of 21st October.
