Wearables seems to be the main focus of this year’s IFA in Berlin, and Asus has joined the bandwagon by announcing its new ZenWatch 2. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor on the inside, this Android Wear smartwatch combines style with functionality.
Aesthetics-wise, Asus has made the ZenWatch 2 to be more personalised, as you would be able to choose between two sizes – 1.63-inch and 1.45-inch; and three stainless steel colours – silver, gunmetal and rose gold, with 18 different strap material and colour combinations. Strap materials consists of rubber strap in blue, orange, red and taupe; soft, premium leather strap in khaki, brown, grey, blue and orange colours; and stainless steel link bracelet in silver, gunmetal and rose gold. For a bit more bling, you also have the option of choosing a leather strap embossed with a diamond pattern accented by Swarovski crystals.
Compared to the previous iteration, the Asus ZenWatch 2 now sports a metal crown button. As for the watch face, it is designed with a gentle curve and made from Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches and damage.
Not only is the watch itself made to suit your personal style, you can also choose up to 50 instant-changeable watch faces, and even a new FaceDesigner smartphone app that allows you to create your own watch face and functionalities.
As for feature-wise, Asus has updated its activity tracking sensors with a full-featured activity tracker with a built-in pedometer in order to provide you with more accurate step-counting. Asus also mentioned that with the ZenWatch 2, you can track your progress and fitness level with its redesigned Wellness personal activity manager.
