Other than just the Strix SCAR II, ASUS ROG has also introduced the Zephyrus S gaming laptop that comes with a 12% slimmer form factor compared to the original Zephyrus laptop. It comes equipped with the latest 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and a Max-Q GTX 1070 graphics chip alongside a 144hz display.

The Zephyrus S uses a mix of aluminium and magnesium alloys in its construction that gives the laptop its strength and weight. It also comes with a 15.6-inch display on a 14.2-inch chassis, allowing the laptop to fit into tighter spaces. Asus has also pushed the refresh rates of this laptop to 144hz to ensure a smooth tear-free gaming experience with a response time of 3ms.

The laptop comes with five heat pipes that direct heat away from the CPU, GPU and VRM circuitry that feeds them power. The CPU and GPU shares dedicated heatsinks to bring down the heat, ensuring it stays below 80 degrees. Asus has design the heatsinks to be free of dust and debris thanks to the addition of self-cleaning fans that can eject particles from the system through anti-dust tunnels.

Similar to the Strix SCAR II, the Zephyrus S comes with Armory Crate software that gives the user full and easy control over the system. Users can customize the Aura Sync lighting and save up to four profiles for the different needs. All these features can be controlled and monitored through the companion app which is available on both Android and iOS.

Specs wise, the Zephyrus S comes with an Intel Core i7-8750H, fast DDR4 2666MHz RAM and an NVMe storage. It also comes with an 802-11ac Wave 2 connectivity that matches the reliability of an ethernet connection. Port-wise, it comes with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C, full-size HDMI 2.0  and USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports. This allows the laptop to perform well not only in gaming but other workloads as well thanks to the implementation of the GTX 1070 with Max-Q design that not only boosts the performance of games and other workloads but allows the Zephyrus S to maintain its thin form factor.

Finally, the laptop comes with an upgraded sound system with dual front-facing speakers that are embedded in the hinge cover and are powered by a smart-amplifier. This allows the speakers to output sound at loud volumes without distorting or damaging the cones. Sonic Studio III offers virtual surround-sound for headsets and features APO injection that extends speaker virtualization for a wide range of gear.
