Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently predicted that Apple’s AirPods that comes with a wireless charging case will be released in the first quarter of 2019.

In addition to the wireless charging case, the AirPods are expected to get upgrades such as Bluetooth 5.0 and also a revised W-series chip. The wireless charging case has even announced long ago, and some even expected it to be released in the recent October event but as that did not happen, it is now expected to be seen next year.

Kuo also predicted that the AirPods will get an all-new design in the first quarter of 2020, and that it will have an “innovative user experience” and a “high integration with iOS and Mac products”. Furthermore, Kuo is placing high expectations on the AirPods, as he predicts 55 million units to be sold in 2019 which is almost twice the amount he predicted for this year. He also predicted that there will be 110 million units of sales in 2021, as he believes that the AirPods is “Apple’s most popular accessory ever”, and that the AirPods “currently has the best momentum among Apple products.”

In the meantime, there are still no updates and news about the AirPower, the wireless charger pad that Apple announced in September 2017. However, Kuo’s previous analysis did dictate that he is expecting the AirPower by the end of this year or early next year.
