Apple launches iPhone 8 logic board replacement program

If you are proudly rocking an iPhone 8 but seem to realize that it has frequent issues of unexpected restarts and freezes, Apple has initiated a repair program that will replace the logic board of your device, at absolutely no cost. While this issue only affects a very small percentage of iPhone 8(s) manufactured between September 2017 and March 2018, it also applies specifically to devices sold in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, and the U.S.

Customers in Malaysia may not need to be worried by this issue, since our devices here are shipped from Singapore, however if you happen to purchase your iPhone 8 from one of the countries mentioned above, then you might want to check if your unit is affected at the repair program page. If your affected device isn’t purchased here, Apple mentions that it may actually limit the repair to the phone’s original country, you do however have 3 years to make the repair if you want to resolve the issue.

Apple recommends that you backup your iPhone before sending in a repair, as changing the logic board would most likely reset your phone and lose all of your content. For those who have bought imported units and affected, good luck with that.
