We finally have some news on the Ryzen 3 and Threadripper and it comes directly from AMD’s CEO Lisa Su in a video they just released. In the video, they have officially announced the clock speeds and cores that both this processor will have and a benchmark of the Threadripper against the Intel Core i9-7900X and the results were very impressive.
First, let’s look at the Threadripper which was made for the high-end desktops. The first variant is a 12-core 32-thread model that was previously announced and another 12-core 32-thread model. Both these processors will be running on the new TR4 Socket, quad channel DDR4, and feature 64 lanes of PCI Express. The 16-core variant is clocked at 3.4 GHz with precision boost to 4.0 GHz and the 12-core variant will have a base clock of 3.5 GHz with precision boost to 4.0 GHz.
For the Ryzen 3, there will also be two variants and both will have 4-cores and 8-threads. The Ryzen 3 1300X will have a clock speed of 3.5 Ghz with a boost to 3.7 GHz and the Ryzen 3 1200 has a base clock of 3.1 GHz and a boost to 3.4 GHz. However, there is still no mention of pricing for these models but it will be available worldwide on July 27.
AMD is on track to release the Threadripper and motherboards in early August, with the Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition System pre-orders starting July 27. The Ryzen Threadripper 1950X will retail for $999 (RM4289.76) and the 1920X will retail for $799 (RM3430.95).
