LG’s road to redemption has been a smooth one so far with its LG G6. The company’s latest flagship device impressed fans way more than the LG G5 did last year as LG’s first attempt to create a modular phone was not received well in terms of sales. The LG G6 on the other hand has received much praise, sporting a near bezel-less front with a long 18:9 aspect ratio display. The flagship handset has since been launched in selected regions worldwide, but it looks like the LG G6 won’t be heading to China.

According to South Korean news outlet Business Korea, LG has no plans of launching the LG G6 in China as part of its “realistic and strategic decision”. This move by LG is reportedly due to the intense competition among smartphone brands in the country, plus the fact that LG has a low market share in China. Chinese manufacturers are always known for their affordable and budget phones which are spec-ed to the brim. With the presence of competitors such as Huawei and Xiaomi, it is safe to say that LG will definitely experience a hard time if it were to toss the premium G6 into the consumer market.

Having said that, China is probably not LG’s playground and the company seems better off investing to market its 2017 flagship in more potential markets. Do you think the LG G6 will do well in the Malaysian market?
