Smartphones aren’t the only thing that Huawei showcased at MWC of course as the company also brought with its some smartwatches. More specifically, the Huawei Watch 2 line of smartwatches.
Much like many of Huawei’s other offerings, the Huawei Watch 2 will come in two variations: the regular Huawei Watch 2, and the fancier Huawei Watch 2 Classic. Design differences aside, both smartwatches sport identical features and specifications. The Huawei Watch 2 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and runs on the Android Wear 2.0 platform.
Interestingly enough, Huawei has shrunk down the screen of the Huawei Watch 2 as it now measures just 1.2″. For comparison, the original Huawei Watch had a 1.4″ screen. Screen aside, the Huawei Watch 2 comes with built-in support for Nano SIM and eSIM. The Huawei Watch 2 will also come with LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and perhaps even VoLTE support as well.
Huawei is also pushing the Huawei Watch 2 as a fitness equipment of course as the company claims that the watch has an IP68 rating, as well as a heart rate monitor, an activity tracker, GPS, and a Fit feature that acts as a personal trainer. As for battery life, the Huawei Watch 2 comes with a 420mAh battery that the company claims could last for up to 11 hours when the heart rate monitor and GPS are on. If the Huawei Watch 2 is used solely as a watch with its activity tracker on, Huawei claims that the watch could last up to 26 days.
Finally, Huawei also announced that the Huawei Watch 2 will be getting a Porsche Design edition much like the Mate 9. Unfortunately, little else is known about this particular Huawei Watch 2 variant.
The Huawei Watch 2 will be making its way into markets around the world beginning from next month with a pricetag of EUR329 (RM1,544). Meanwhile, the Huawei Watch 2 Classic will retail for EUR399 (RM1,872).
