Those of you who are looking forward to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor are in for a bit of a rude awakening as it appears that the chip won’t be making its way into the mainstream market until April at the earliest. Why is that you ask? Well, it appears that Samsung has made a deal with Qualcomm that gives the Korean company the right to be the first one to use the Snapdragon 835 in their smartphones.

According to reports by Forbes, a source has spoken to them confirming that the Snapdragon 835 “won’t be available in large quantities until after the S8 launches.” Simply put, any phone that launches before the S8 will need to rely on the older Snapdragon 821, which probably explains why the HTC U Ultra and the upcoming LG G6 will be using the older chips.

The news that the Samsung has first dibs at the Snapdragon 835 isn’t all that surprising considering that the chip itself is manufactured using Samsung’s 10nm FinFET process. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is currently rumoured to launch in South Korea on the 14th of April.
