Vine as a short video upload service will be dead within the coming months. However, those who are fond of Vine won’t need to say farewell for good after all, as Vine will still be as a camera-app.
In a post published on Medium, Vine has announced that the company will be releasing a pared-down app called Vine Camera. With this app, users will still be able to make the six-second looping videos that the service is known for. As the Vine servers will be taken offline soon, videos taken via the Vine Camera will not be automatically uploaded. Instead, users can choose to either post the video up to Twitter directly, or save them on their devices for later use.

For those who have a significant library of videos on their Vine account, you can now download your uploaded Vines through the app or the website. On top of that, Vine will also be rolling out a “Follow on Twitter” notification soon, allowing your Vine followers to follow your Twitter account instead.
